HS Science & Sports High School

Introduction
Sports and school are no longer in competition thanks to the International School of Pavia, which has introduced the *Scientific Sports* track, recognizing the central role of sports education as a fundamental element in the growth of young people.

The project is aimed at athletes or students who wish to nurture their passion for sports in a school with a vision aligned with this goal, featuring highly professional and experienced teachers, both internal and external. The study of curricular subjects is integrated with the Cambridge standard, allowing students to achieve some IGCSEs.

STEAM Curriculum
Students can choose the STEAM curriculum at the beginning of their school cycle and aim to achieve the British AS & A-Levels by the fourth year of high school.

The educational objectives focus on international certifications for the curricular language as well as sports certifications.

Matter
The subjects follow the accredited curriculum with the possibility of integrating some subjects in English.
Optional Classes - CAMBRIDGE IGCSE
Students in our sports high school can participate in optional courses related to obtaining IGCSEs and international certifications. Specifically, a student enrolled in the sports high school can attend German, Spanish, or History classes from the first-year Biomedical or STEAM curriculum. Alternatively, they can continue their studies aimed at obtaining the scientific high school diploma with enhanced English.

Opportunity
STUDENT-ATHLETE
An experimental program for innovative training aimed at high-level student-athletes: this is the opportunity offered to schools with Ministerial Decree No. 43 of March 3, 2023.

Program Objectives
The program creates the conditions to overcome the challenges that arise during the schooling of student-athletes, particularly the difficulties in regularly attending lessons. The goal is to provide support to schools to effectively promote the right to education and academic success for these students as well.

Participation
The program is intended for high-level student-athletes, identified based on specific criteria outlined in “Annex 1“ of the project initiation note, enrolled in secondary schools (both public and private). Participation requires an online registration process through a dedicated platform.

Organization
Our typical day is structured as follows:

Diploma
With the high school diploma issued by the Scientific Sports High School of the International School of Pavia, students can access all university faculties. Additionally, due to the courses taught in English, students will have stronger mathematical and scientific skills in both English and Italian throughout their academic journey.

Experiences
Study trips have a strong educational value and are closely linked to the annual curriculum. Every year, students are offered at least two experiences abroad at partner schools.
