Introduction
The International Economics curriculum complements the path of the high school for social sciences with an economic-social option and is the only educational opportunity available in the provincial area that provides students with the necessary preparation for success in university programs in the humanities or economics, both in Italy and abroad.
We have defined it as Economics because it will allow students to study language and literature as well as economic subjects in English.
Features
Here are our key features:
- Scientific and humanities subjects taught also in English (for IGCSEs)
- Achievement of 5 IGCSEs
- 3 A-Levels in English
- Achievement of 3 A-Levels or alternatively the AICE diploma
- Practical activities in scientific and IT labs
- Shared workload between students and teachers
- Cultural and language exchanges abroad
- Networking with Italian and foreign universities
- Digital innovation
- Curriculum-based emotional education lab
Foreign Languages
All curricular activities conducted in foreign languages are taught by qualified teachers, some of whom are native English speakers, in compliance with current educational regulations.
The core languages are: English and Spanish. Optional afternoon courses are available for other languages.
The following graph compares the teaching hours in Italian with those in other languages.
Goals
CAMBRIDGE IGCSE
The IGCSE certificates – International General Certificate of Secondary Education – are internationally recognized and are equivalent to the British GCSEs that students complete at the end of compulsory education, at the age of 16. Preparation courses for the IGCSEs begin in the first year of high school and focus on the offered subjects.
A-level DIPLOMAS
Students who pass the IGCSE exams can continue their studies with the aim of taking three A-level exams in curricular subjects such as: History (Group 3), English Literature, and Economics (Group 2).
With 3 A-levels, completed in the 4th year, students can directly enroll in universities in Italy or abroad.
Matter
The subjects follow the Italian and British parallel curriculum.
Optional AS & A LEVELS
If a student wishes to add courses in additional subjects to pursue further AS & A levels, the school reserves the right to evaluate the request.
Opportunity
At the end of the international program (in the fourth year of high school), students will have the opportunity to continue their studies at universities that recognize AS & A Levels as direct entry qualifications for enrollment (e.g., Italy, England, America, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and many other countries), thanks to the completion of exams in subjects studied in English in accordance with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
They will also be able to conclude the paritary path by taking the Italian high school diploma exam in the Humanities track.
Organization
Our typical day is structured as follows:
Diploma
DOUBLE DIPLOMA
We are a Cambridge school, and AS & A-level exams are held within our institution. Students will take the exams for A-level diplomas by the end of the fourth year.
Students can also choose to take the Italian high school diploma exam. As a paritary school, the state exam is administered within our institution. With the state diploma issued by the Humanities High School of the International School of Pavia, students can access all university faculties. Thanks to the courses taught in English, students will gain stronger mathematical and scientific skills in both English and Italian.
AICE DIPLOMA (AS & A-levels)
Students may alternatively choose to obtain the Cambridge AICE Diploma. In the Economics curriculum, students are required to study a core subject such as Global Perspectives & Research, in addition to Cambridge subjects across three curricular areas: Mathematics and Sciences (Group 1), Languages (Group 2), and Arts and Humanities (Group 3).

Experiences
Study trips have a strong educational and didactic value and are closely linked to the annual curriculum. Every year, students are offered at least two experiences abroad at partner schools.
