HS STEAM

Introduction
The STEAM curriculum complements the educational path of the scientific high school and the sports-oriented scientific high school. It is the only training opportunity available in the provincial area that allows students to gain the necessary preparation for success in university courses in the scientific, health-sports, or technological fields, both in Italy and abroad.

Here are our key features:
· Scientific and humanities subjects taught directly in English (for IGCSE);
· Attainment of 5 IGCSE qualifications;
· 2 A-Levels in scientific subjects and 1 A-Level in English;
· Hands-on activities in scientific and IT laboratories;
· Attainment of 3 A-Level diplomas or alternatively an AICE diploma;

Goals
CAMBRIDGE IGCSE
The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) certificates are internationally recognized and are equivalent to the British GCSEs, which students obtain at the end of compulsory education at the age of 16. Preparation courses for the IGCSE exams begin in the first year of high school and cover the proposed subjects.

International Medical Admission Test (IMAT)
The STEAM H.S. curriculum enables students to acquire the necessary skills to successfully take university entrance exams, including the IMAT, both in Italy and abroad.

A-Level Diplomas
Students who pass the IGCSE exams can continue their studies with the goal of taking three A-Level exams in curricular subjects such as History (Group 3), Biology, and Computer Science (Group 1).
With three A-Levels obtained by the fourth year, students can apply directly to universities in Italy and abroad.

Matter
The subjects follow both the Italian and British accredited curricula.

Optional AS & A-Levels
If a student wishes to add additional courses in other subjects to take the AS & A-Level exams, the school reserves the right to evaluate the request.

Opportunity
At the end of the international program (in the fourth year of high school), students will have the opportunity to continue their studies at universities that recognize AS & A-Levels as direct admission qualifications (e.g., in Italy, England, the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and many other countries). This is made possible by passing exams in subjects studied in English, in accordance with the Cambridge International Curriculum.

Additionally, students can complete the Italian equivalent curriculum by taking the Italian scientific high school final exam (“esame di maturità“).

Organization
Some of the laboratory activities and science teaching in the final three years will be conducted in collaboration with the faculties of Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering.

Diploma
Dual Diploma
We are a Cambridge school, and AS & A-Level exams are taken internally. Students will complete their A-Level diplomas by the fourth year.
Students may also choose to take the Italian *esame di maturità*, and since we are an accredited school, the state exam takes place internally. With the state diploma awarded by the Scientific High School of the International School of Pavia, students can access all university faculties. Additionally, thanks to courses taught in English, they will develop stronger mathematical and scientific skills in both English and Italian throughout their studies.

AICE Diploma (AS & A-Levels)
Alternatively, students can choose to obtain the Cambridge AICE Diploma. In the STEAM curriculum, students are required to study a core subject, *Global Perspectives & Research*, in addition to Cambridge subjects from three curricular areas: Mathematics and Sciences (Group 1), Languages (Group 2), and Arts and Humanities (Group 3).
